ECHOES is planning its next Call to Care event set for April 13, 2012: ”Reach, Teach, Believe!”  The auction and dinner fundraiser will have two beneficiaries: the Trinity Children's Centre in Kabowa, Uganda and the St. James School in Philadelphia, Pa.  Trinity serves students in kindergarten though grade 7 and is in urgent need of funds to improve its four buildings, pay its teachers, offer scholarships, buy textbooks, outfit a kitchen and upgrade lavatory facilities.  The St. James School opened its doors to underserved middle school children in the Allegheny West section of Philadelphia in September 2011.  St. James, part of the San Miguel independent school network, offers children of all faiths challenging academics in a nurturing environment.

February 2012 Update:   Globetrotting adventurer Todd Carmichael, owner of La Colombe coffee and a longtime ECHOES supporter, will emcee the April 13 festivities at Malvern’s Desmond Hotel. Main Line philanthropist Betty Moran will receive ECHOES first Humanitarian Award. The two schools’ four founders will be honored: Ugandans David and Sarah Serunjogi and Philadelphians Rev. Sean Mullen and Dr. Audrey Evans, a noted pediatric oncologist.  Tickets to the seated dinner and auction are $95. Auction prizes include luxury vacations, once-in-a-lifetimes experiences, sports and entertainment packages and beauty indulgences.  To donate a prize or request an invitation, contact acunningham795@gmail.com.  The committee met on February 8 to address invitations which will go in the mail the week of February 13, 2012.

September 2011 UpdateThe Trinity Children's Centre has begun construction on a new classroom building.  ECHOES will raise funds at the Reach, Teach, Believe! event to build the second three story section of this building, pictured to the right.  The St. James School opened its doors in early September and ECHOES is working with the school to identify and fund needed projects.  The committee continues to meet and is very busy with the event planning.

June 2011 Update:  The latest Call to Care committee meeting was held in early June at the Desmond Hotel in Malvern, Pa., the venue for “Reach, Teach, Believe!”  The committee toured the facilities and discussed the fundraiser’s format. Be sure to check back for updates about this important event, still in the early planning stage.

April 2011 Update:  The first planning meeting for ECHOES’ Call to Care 2012 was held in Villanova on April 13, 2011 at the home of our new event chair, Anne Cunningham.  In attendance were Nereida Gordon, Caroline O'Halloran, LynAnn Mastaj, Mona Kirby, Suzanne Zelov, Cathi Daillot, Pat Binnion, Jane Wilson, Ann Francis and Lois Redmond.  Other committee members include Janis Satterfield, Vaughn Honigman, Betsy Aikens, Marybeth Christiansen, Betsy Fadem, Louise Haley, Cheri McCaslin, Mary Manzi, MJ Ormsbee, Barbara Sutherland, Julia Urwin, Lisa Bruce, Carol Dressel, Terri Kunda and Cissy Claypool.
