The Mobile Clinic Ambulance is Rolling!
During these stressful economic times so many friends of ECHOES answered the call to care. Because of the generosity of so many, ECHOES Around the World has been able to increase the services offered by the Mobile Clinic and provide equipment for the next year. The Mobile Clinic provides:
the ambulance with needed equipment and medicines gas for the tank and to keep the ambulance rolling the education programs on HIV/AIDS, malaria, TB and good heath practices to outlying villages the salaries for health professionals who educate and administer medical help The Mobile Clinic operates out of Double Cure Medical Centre in Mpigi, Uganda, another creation of our partner Rev. David (Romans) Serunjogi.
The town of Mpigi has called the Mobile Clinic to transport injured victims, specifically from road accidents, to the larger hospitals in the capital Kampala. The town has previously not had an ambulance for transportation. When patients have to be transported to Double Cure or to a hospital, the usual method of transportation is a truck or motor bike. This fact alone is hard for us to imagine – left lying by the side of the road because there is no transportation, or being taken to a hospital on the back of a bike or truck. The ambulance is indeed more than a luxury for the area.
At Christmastime some visitors witnessed the ambulance in use. People rushed victims of a road accident to Double Cure Medical Clinic. Some needed more care than Double Cure could handle and badly needed to be taken to a hospital. The transportation was delayed somewhat because money had to be found to fill the gas tank. Right now gas is averaging about $10 per gallon. The patients were transported. Before the ambulance could return to Double Cure they were pulled over to help yet another accident victim and turned around to take this person to the hospital.
As you can see, your generosity is sorely needed and appreciated. Thank you for being part of this network of help to our sisters and brothers in Africa.
